James Paul McCartney was born in Speke, Liverpool on June 18th 1942.He lived with his parents, Jim (a musician) and Mary and brother Michael (latterly Scaffold's Mike McGear). His father encouraged Paul to take music lessons, but in reality he was both a self-taught pianist and left-handed guitarist. With John, he formed the Quarrymen, later to be joined by George. After several name changes the group eventually became the Beatles in 1960. Paul along with John became one of the most prolific song writers the world has ever seen. Some of his most famous solo compositions include “And I Love Her”, Lady Madonna”, “Let it Be”, “Paperback Writer” and “The Long and Winding Road”.  Following the demise of the Beatles in 1970, Paul formed Wings along with his wife Linda and had a very successful recording and performing career until 1981. Now Sir Paul McCartney, he is the most successful musician and composer in the history of pop music, with sixty gold discs, over 100 million single sales, and a net worth of $800 million. Paul's love life was the subject of many a speculation. In the sixties he was rumoured to be marrying actress Jane Asher, but this never came to fruition. In 1969 he married Linda Eastman. Together they had 3 children - Mary, Stella and James. Linda died from breast cancer in 1998. Following this in 2002, Paul married Heather Mills.  They had 1 child Beatrice and were the subject of an acrimonious divorce in 2008. On Oct 9th 2011 Paul married Nancy Shevell.
